Tim Quick Releases Solo EP “Comin’ Home”
Nashville, TN, For Immediate Release - Sideman, producer and composer Tim Quick has added singer/songwriter to his resume with the release of his first solo EP “Comin’ Home.”
Perhaps best known for his guitar work, he has accumulated years of sideman experience including performing with such artists as Alice Cooper, John Legend, and Dee Snider, as well as recording with multi-platinum selling producers such as Rob Cavallo and David Bottrill. Currently playing guitar for 2x Grammy Award winner Gloria Gaynor, he is also a member of the Bacon Brothers with whom he has spent the last three years as their guitarist, mandolin player, and backing vocalist.
Additionally, he has played guitar for over a dozen Broadway musicals, including three years with School of Rock The Musical, and he was a featured guitarist for NBC’s Emmy Award winning Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert televised special.
“I’ve been really fortunate to have a diverse career in many facets of the music industry,” explained Quick. “All of those different experiences have shaped the way I write, play and produce music. I’m fundamentally a rock musician, but playing multiple styles of music with multiple artists has shaped the way I hear and make music.”
The 5 song EP is a collection of original songs rooted in rock, but with a diversity you would expect from a musician with his background. All-out rockers like the first single “Out The Door” and “Good To Know” feature dazzling guitar work, while the EP’s title track “Comin’ Home” is a soulful ballad. “That was the first song I wrote for the record. I wrote it for my girls - my wife and my daughter - while I was on the road with the Bacon Brothers as a reminder that I will be home soon”.
The second single “Tequila Blues” is a tip of the hat to not only his drink of choice but his musical heroes. “I began with the almost comically cliche, ’Woke up this morning’ lyric, then I started cramming in as many song titles from my favorite artists as I could. Last I counted there were at least 15 or 20 song references in the lyrics.”
He began to write the material in the fall of 2019, planning a release for a full album in early 2020, all while concurrently playing on Broadway, television and touring. Once the pandemic hit, “everything was thrown out the window,” mused Quick. Like so many across the world, Tim lost income, job security, benefits and more due to the staggering impact of the pandemic and its ensuing lockdowns.
The intimate acoustic track, “My Soul” was written about his experiences as an artist during the pandemic, one he shares with countless musicians and creators. Explained Quick, “ ‘My Soul’ speaks to the fact that music is not simply a job...it’s who we are, who we have dedicated our lives to being, constantly striving for fulfillment and betterment. Having nearly everything you’ve worked your life for and built your world around taken away from you is devastating.”
The first single, “Out the Door” will be available May 7, 2021 on all major streaming services including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Google Play. The second single “Tequila Blues” will be released on May 24, 2021.
Look for the full EP “Comin’ Home” on June 4, 2021.
